1. Make sure people can find you online.
First things first, google yourself and see what is publicly known about you.
Found some old party pictures, irrelevant information, or the likes? Contact the platforms from which the information came for removal, so this information won't see the light of day.
Next, check your LinkedIn profile to see if everything is filled in. Most employers' first instinct is to check your LinkedIn page, right after reviewing your CV.

2. Utilize your network.
Most people are ashamed to take the first step towards a new challenge or don't even know who to talk to in the first place.
They start looking on job boards - nothing wrong with that - but they're missing out on those unique opportunities that don't always get posted.
Some companies don't see the need to spend budget on these job boards, or immediately hire a specialized recruiter to fill these positions.
By utilizing your network, you'll make sure that you won't miss any of these opportunities. Speak to ex-colleagues, friends … to see if they know anyone who's hiring.
Or, speak to a recruiter specialized in recruiting your type of profile.
3. Investigate and analyze the market.
Even though you may feel like you're in a rush - because your boss is getting on your nerves and a burn-out seems just one angry e-mail away - don't let this force you to make the wrong decision.
Lots of people make this mistake and regret it afterward.
The result? A job where you worked for 6 months, stamped on your CV as an ugly smudge.
Instead, take your time to see what type of company, team composition, or job description would best fit you.
3. Know thyself …
Take a look inwards and see what your strengths, weaknesses, and boundaries are.
You don't want to oversell yourself during an interview as this will just set the wrong expectations in the end.
You want to make sure the interviewer knows exactly what he can expect from you and vice versa.
